New technology is more gadget then functional device, but still cool to see
Phablet’s been the buzz word for mobile manufacturers of late. That’s probably because they’ve been having a lot of difficulty honing in on what the market wants – do they want a phone-sized device or something more substantial like a tablet. The result – phablets.

Japanese-based Willcom made a statement last week and said that they weren’t going to be part of the next big trend when they unveiled the “Phone Strap 2 WX06A” – the world’s smallest, lightest smartphone ever created.

The Phone Strap 2 WX06A measures just 32 x 70 x 10.7 mm and weighs a svelte 32 grams. Granted, something like this is more toy / gadget than usable device, but the crazy thing is that it actually works and functions like a smartphone! Text-based email is perfectly legible on the one-inch display, and the phone even comes with an onboard infrared sensor. One charge will power the Phone Strap 2 WX06A’s battery for two hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby.

A total of 12,000 Phone Strap phones will be manufactured. They’ll be available in pink, black, and white.
